Job Title:                             Support Staff Worker

Supervisor:                          Transit Director

Summary: The Support Staff Worker will be under the supervision of the Transit Director and will perform a variety of duties for the Tribal Transportation Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Will maintain program filing system; will type reports, memos and general correspondence; will enter data into computer, will also perform services such as preparing correspondence for mailing, photocopying, faxing, preparing purchase orders and vouchers. Will record and maintain all driver’s daily log books to include vehicle maintenance logs and records, will tabulate hours and miles driven, tabulate passenger and rider head count on weekly and monthly basis; record revenue and aid in general transit operations, will answer calls from customers requesting transport and dispatch requests to drivers; will also maintain office communications in the absence of the supervisor.

Will fill in as needed for the transportation of riders to the designated locations on the area service routes; will collect rider fares and sell bus passes. Will implement tribal transportation policies and procedures to ensure passenger safety, public safety and courteous service; will be responsible for keeping vehicles clean and well assist with preventative measures to maintain vehicles as needed, i.e., oil changes, tire checks, vehicle washing, will ensure that all Tribal Transit System Program requirements are met.

Educational and/or Experience:


High School Diploma or its equivalent is required.

Administrative/Secretarial Associate degree or combination of training and experience required.

Experience with budgets, satellite account systems is required, excellent oral communication skills, especially telephone customer service skills; knowledge of computers, including word-processing software including Excel.

Must possess good past work record.

Other Skills and Abilities:


This is a required driver position.

Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and meet eligibility for tribal insurance.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Must possess good interpersonal skills and ability to relate will to passengers with objectivity and courtesy.

Background Check:

This position is contingent on ability to pass background check required. This position required for eligibility a Caregiver Background Check regarding working with children and/or elderly, and required driver check, to meet eligibility for Tribal Insurance.
