Job Title:                             Historic Preservation Policy Analyst

Summary: The Bad River Band through its Historic Preservation Office is looking for a qualified historic preservation policy analyst to join its cultural resources protection efforts. This position’s basic task is analyzing and documenting application of cultural resources policy to projects and other activities impacting historic properties, cultural resources, and hunting fishing and gathering activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Review and compliance related to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and other federal historic preservation laws, coordinating directly with the Tribal Historic Preservation Office and natural resources department staff as well as cultural resources consultants.

This position requires extensive travel and requires attendance at policy and project meetings across the ceded territory. Desk work and research is also involved. The person in this position must be able to work independently.

Educational and/or Experience:

Required:

Training and Licenses:

Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.

Experience:

Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Indian law with a minimum two years of experience practicing law or the equivalent school practicum work.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Required:

This is a required driver position.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet eligibility for tribal insurance.

Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment in achieving goals of the tribal government.

Background Check:

This position is contingent on ability to pass required security background check. This position requires a driver’s record check, to meet eligibility for Tribal Insurance.

Language Skills:

Excellent writing, speaking and interpersonal skills.
