Job Title:                                Clinic Registered Nurse                       Full time-8AM-4:30PM

­­­­­­­­­­­­Summary: The Clinic Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing ambulatory nursing care to patients and family in the tribal clinic and within the scope of practice outlined by the State of Wisconsin Board of Nursing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities as clinic RN including the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Will be responsible for integrating ANA standards of care into the clinic setting; conducting Assessments, such as collecting subjective health histories from clinic patients to identify health problems.
  • Identify patients requiring priority attention and arranging for appropriate care; reporting abnormal diagnostic data to attending primacy care provider; implementing and evaluating nursing care; recording clearly and accurately.
  • Document relevant information regarding conditions of the patient, current nursing intervention, testing requirements, referral and follow-up visits with direction from the physician/FNP, and status of coordinated activities between nursing and other professional disciplines in the health record using Electronic Health records.
  • Will participate in planning to include immediate and long-term goals and plans for patient education.
  • Will participate in the management of the day to day clinic operation and maintenance; serve as an advocate for patients and families. May function in Clinic RN Supervisor role as needed to cover absence or leave.
  • Participate in patient care conference with other clinic staff members; follow-up patients referred to other services.
  • Will counsel patients provide education on disease, preventative health measures; prepare patient and equipment required for examination and/or treatment by physician/FNP.
  • Will check exam room supplies, clean exam room after each patient, sterilize instruments; assist physician/FNP with examinations, intravenous medications and immunizations as prescribed by physician/FNP or standing orders; provide first aide treatment of minor illness according to written standing orders.
  • Triage patients prioritize patient needs and facilitate patient access to clinic services.
  • Perform laboratory tests including hematocrit, blood sugar, strep tests, pregnancy tests, vein puncture for other lab test and specimens for laboratory analysis; document nursing services provided.
  • Will participate in specialty clinics; consult with and keep physician/FNP informed of pertinent clinic operations performed by RN; initiate referrals to CHN, Mental Health, Alcohol program or other appropriate members of the Health Service Staff.
  • Assist with planning and implementing community activities.
  • Maintain proficiency with use of electronic health record and document appropriately.
  • Monitor vaccination and medication storage appropriately and document all system checks accurately.

Educational and/or Experience:

Required:

Registered Nurse graduated from an NLN accredited school. B.S.N. preferred.

Must possess current R.N. license in the State of Wisconsin.

Must have minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role. Clinic experience preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Required:

This is a required driver position.

Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and meet eligibility for tribal insurance.

Background Check:

This position is contingent on ability to pass background check required. This position required for eligibility a Caregiver Background Check regarding working with children and/or elderly, and a required driver check to meet eligibility for Tribal Insurance.

Language Skills:

Must possess strong oral and written communication.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to interact with the clients/public, fellow employees, tribal programs.

Must be physically able to participate in clinic activities daily. Position requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, stooping, and/or occasional lifting to 50lbs.
